Aaaand, another episode and another discussion. Read on to find out our thoughts on Doc & Nicole clearing the air, Wynonna taking out Genie, that we're all pretty much pro-boob-punching, and other ruminations!
This week we have the following joining us around the firepit:
Earpnado (@earpnado)
Lynn (@lynn_rachels)
Office (@nedleysoffice)
Kayla (@ViewserAlert)
Lindsey (@xfbard)
Laura (@usuttontorwort)
So, without further ado, let's get Crazy!
1. The genie implied that she and Wynonna are the same,
that they are both beholden in some way, but also that they have a taste for
blood in the same way. Do you agree? How are they the same and how are they
different? And do you think Wynonna will ever be free of her
"curses."
Earpnado – Wynonna and the
genie are both tied to things that they can’t necessarily control, but honestly
the similarities seemed to end there. Wynonna wants to do the right thing
and the genie seemed to be kind of vapid and indifferent. Wynonna is many
things but indifferent will never be one of them. I also don’t think Wynonna
has ever had a taste for blood. I think she occasionally has a taste for
those who have a taste for blood though, which is very different, and a trait
that I identify with on a level even I’m sometimes uncomfortable with.
Office – Wow, there was so so SO SOO SOOOOOO much to
unpack in scenes between Genie and Wynonna. Do I think Wynonna is beholden to a
psychotic gun (Peacemaker) and has no choice but to do their bidding? No, no I don’t. Whereas does Genie seem to
seek out psychotic people to be her master/lord/guy who’s wishes she grants,
yes, yes I do. So I think that is a major difference. What I found most telling is that Wynonna knew
there was a difference between them when Genie made Wynonna stop screaming. “You
gotta listen to the screams. You gotta look the cost of this in the eye, and
tell it to go fuck itself.” The cost on Wynonna of killing beings is still
high, but she still does it. Also, she clearly feels trapped, and wants to be
free. But she can’t be free. So whereas I think Genie had a taste for killing
and liked killing and could choose to not bump into psychotic people who would
fulfill what she likes, Wynonna doesn’t like killing but doesn’t have a choice
as she exists in a world where everyone is trying to ‘end her line’. Seriously,
that last scene between Genie and Wynonna…. Whole dissertations could be
written about it, it was amazing and deep and painful but necessary.
Lynn – I am going to let my buddies in this group
delve into this one and break it down. I know there are probably similarities
and definitely differences but I am not going there! I am simply going to
answer by saving that Wynonna has come so far since arriving in Purgatory! She
has endured so much, grown into the hero this town needs, and will continue to
do her best to keep her family safe! At the end of Season 5, Wynonna can be
free of her “curses”, but until then, she will continue to be the hero I love
so much!
Laura – Whoa, that’s like 8 questions there! I don’t
math around the firepit. But since you asked, yes I agree but no I disagree.
Ginny and Wynonna are very different because in the end, there is something
that Wynonna cares about that’s greater than herself or being the heir/hero.
Yes, she’s come to realize she’s good at it but really she does it because not
only is there really no one else that can get it done (it was always going to
be her) but she has people she loves to continue the fight for. Don’t fuck with
her family! Sometimes I do worry that Wynonna is more controlled by peacemaker
than the other way around especially since it went from gun to sword, back to
gun and it has a “mind” of its own between the blue and orange lights. Which again,
have we ever figured out what those different colors mean? I’m sorry, here’s
some pretty blue lights? You’re a jackass evil person, you get the orange? I
kind of felt a bit sorry for the genie but peacemaker clearly didn’t since it
gave off the orange symbols. I’m guessing it was none to pleased with what
Ginny had to say to Wynonna too. And I do not think Wynonna has a taste for
blood just that what she does is bloody and because of who she is and who she
protects, she’s willing to get her hands bloody.
Lindsey – I think the Wynonna/Peacemaker relationship
is complicated. Obviously that gun has a
history. One that is not entirely pleasant and above board. I feel like there
is some sort of sentience to Peacemaker going back to Wyatt’s days. She’s (yes, I’m calling Peacemaker a she)
been handed down from one bloodied hand to the next until she got to
Wynonna. Did she pick up more than a
curse along the way? Has she become a tool of evil, an enabler? That’s a tough
question. Did Peacemaker make Wynonna
who she is today or did Wynonna become who she is because of Peacemaker? I think the truth lies somewhere in the
middle. Wynonna did say that the only
thing she was good at, the only thing she loved doing was putting down
Revenants. And now that they are all
gone she’s at a crossroads. Does she
continue to reign death down upon ALL demons? Or does she become the
gatekeeper, all powerful in deciding which ones live and which ones die? In
that respect maybe she is a bit like the Genie, holding the power to kill in
her hands. At the same time Wynonna IS different. She has the free will to choose not to kill,
it’s just a matter of if she is strong enough to make that choice. To detach
herself from the way of the gun.
As for Wynonna’s curses…do I think she will ever be free.
No, not truly free. I think that regardless of what happens, which path she
chooses to take, there will always be the memory of the curse, of the life she
lived, hunted by those that her ancestor put down. And haunted by the choices
she made while she was the heir. I’m not
sure how anyone ever breaks free of that.
I can only hope that she finds peace enough to try.
Kayla – Such an interesting question - I like how the
genie said that Wynonna was a slave to her gun. It goes along with the ongoing
theme throughout the show that Peacemaker has its own consciousness and its own
will. I also think it’s interesting that we see this scene in the same episode
where Nicole takes her position back as sheriff. The whole town celebrates
Nicole’s return, and know that they need her to keep them safe. But what about
Wynonna? Surely the whole town knows by now that without her, they’d be overrun
by demons. Why is she not seen as the “returning hero” that Nicole is? How do
you think Nicole would have reacted if she were in Wynonna’s shoes in that
hallway with the genie? I know that I’m supposed to be answering questions but
these parallels are what make this show AMAZING.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
2. We now know a little bit more about what happened to
Nicole when she lost the vote for Sheriff: she became the Chicken Kicker. What
are your thoughts about Nicole’s "viral video" and how do you feel
about the return of Sheriff Haught?
Earpnado – Thank goodness Rachel saved that video in her
“tax stuff”, which is a totes normal folder for a teenager to have on their
phone by the way. If I’m Rachel’s guardian, the FIRST place I’m checking
if I get her phone is the folder called “tax stuff”. Anyways, Chicken Kicker
is a gift to us all and none of us will ever be the same. How do I feel
about the return of Sheriff Haught? I guess it’s pretty OK that Haught
will be back in the rolled up sleeves missing top button uniform. I
certainly haven’t been fantasizing about it this entire time anyways.
Office – That was completely unexpected. And delightful.
And, while part of it was also sad, knowing what Nicole had been going through
that made her go out there and get rip-roaring drunk then having no one to stop
her from going into the sheriff’s office and kick a chicken. But, I do like
that what was probably the last time she had a police uniform on was going to
be the reason she puts that uniform on again. Not that I’m looking forward to
seeing her in that uniform again. Or looking forward to it a lot. Like a lot a lot. Mmmm, Nicole Haught back in
uniform.
Lynn – I think the video showed just how lost and
alone Nicole was! She drank a bit too much and called out the citizens of
Purgatory for not believing in her and her commitment to keeping them safe!
They chose Holt and the unknown to lead them. She was disappointed, hurt,
scared and showed a very human side of herself by lashing out! I applaud
Chicken-Kicker!
I am elated that Nicole has agreed to be Sheriff again! I am
proud of her for standing up in front of her “enemies” and telling her truth!
It is sometimes hard to swallow your pride and put yourself back out there.
Nicole did it with grace, dignity and a regenerated passion for keeping
Purgatory safe! Way to go, Sheriff Haught! So good to have you back!
Laura – Chicken. Kicker. Chicken. Kicker. I want all
the shirts for this, please tweet your designs to me at @usuttontorwort as I
will buy them all. I’ve already got two ordered. I love chicken kicker and
aside from a certain stairs scene this season, that is by far the most reaction
I’ve had to a scene. The look on Nicole’s face when she realizes it’s playing
and everyone including her family is watching it. She’s worked hard to be so
different from her parents who clearly were not the most kept parental figures,
plus getting beyond her little Vegas escapade. She went to the police academy,
was the best deputy in ten years in Purgatory where I would imagine it’s hard
to be a cop in the easiest of non-Earpy days, and she was the only choice for
Sheriff for a town full of, well Purgatorians. I can’t imagine getting
plastered and kicking a cooked chicken was easy for her but it was the last
part of her healing. It was a long 18 months, 3 weeks, 4 days for her in so
many ways but now she can finally get over the hump and get back to herself.
Welcome back Sheriff Haught. We all need you!
Lindsey – Oh Nicole…while I found the Chicken Kicker
to be particularly humorous it also made me really sad for Nicole. How bad must it have been for her to get
drunk and then go into the Sheriff’s Office and kick that chicken? I mean think
about it, she watched Wynonna go through the portal, her leg was broken, her
love and her found family were all gone and she didn’t know if or when they
would ever return, her mentor was a puffball monster, and THEN she lost her job
based on the vote of a town that she had been working diligently to protect for
several years. That had to be the last
straw. The one thing she had left was
gone. The one thing she could count on
to keep her sane was taken away. She had
nothing left. Oof, I don’t even want to
go down the rabbit hole of how dark things were for Nicole. I mean we all saw how much she struggled when
Team Earp first got back to the garden.
But hey, now she’s BACK! Sheriff Haught is back! I am super happy about that, one because I
love Nicole in uniform. Two, Nicole NEEDS her job back. It gives her something outside of the Earps
that is just hers, something she is good at and something she is passionate
about. And three, Purgatory is going to
need its Sheriff in the coming weeks. Something wicked this way comes…and
Nicole Haught is just the woman to handle it.
Kayla – Chicken. Kicker. Is. Hot. In all seriousness,
I think that it shows us a bit more about just how much Nicole was hurting
during that time. She had lost literally everything and everyone, and then the
town was going to eat their fucking chicken off of HER table cloth? Think
again! It was such a Wynonna way of reacting – to get drunk, and go punting
some poultry. I think it showed us that while Nicole makes it a point to be
other people’s rock, to be there to save other people, to always have her shit
together – that she’s only human at the end of the day. And sometimes humans
need to get their hands dirty and kick some fucking chicken to make their
point. I do wonder if Chicken Kicker Gate is what forced Nicole to “retreat” to
the Homestead. And I’m still interested to know what Nicole meant when she said
“you know what you did” to Holt. I want to see more flashbacks from those 18
months, because I love pain. I also love that Rachel kept the chicken kicker
video on her phone, and WHAT IS IN THAT BROWSING HISTORY MISSY?
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
3. You're boxing, do you punch your opponent in the boobs
yay/nay and why not?
Earpnado – If the question is boobs the answer is
always yes.
Office – Of course not, I’m not a savage! (Narrator: yes, yes Office would because if
you’re not protecting them, why should she not?)
Lynn – I think it would be almost impossible to not
punch your opponent’s boobs during a boxing match. Punches are flying every
which way! If you are trying for a gut punch, same general area, it could
happen. I would not do it intentionally but seems inevitable.
Laura – Ha, yay! I learned to fight scrappy like I’m
sure Wynonna did and there is no off-limits when you’re fighting for your life.
If they were in a ring, I’d say nay. But ring schming, this is brawling and
demons don’t care if you have boobs. Well, some might. I mean if I were a demon
I’d care about boobs but that’s just me, not every demon is the same. Just like
all boobs are not the same, some are small, some bigger, and then there’s
the…sorry, what was the question? Right! Yes, hit them in the boobs!
Lindsey – All’s fair in love and boxing, right? I guess it really depends, is it a training
thing or a real boxing match? Training
I’d probably try to not punch someone square in the boob cuz super ouch, but if
it were a real boxing match, heck yeah, I’d be throwing haymakers all day long
aiming for those sensitive spots.
Kayla – I, like Wynonna, am a dirty bitch. So, yay.
Because you want to hit your opponent where it hurts. The only rule of BBD
sparring is don’t let your little sister see you slamming her fiancé to the
ground.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
4. This week Wynonna pointed Peacemaker at Doc after
being not at all (okay, super) excited to go talk to him, what are your
thoughts/feelings about that?
Earpnado – Wynonna was definitely happy when she
thought Doc had effed up. I think that was less about her being attracted
to bad boys and more her being relieved that what she did wouldn’t look so bad
if Doc did the same thing. They have both made questionable calls since
they met but they never seem to make them at the same time. They balance
each other in good ways, I guess it makes sense that they do the same in not so
good ways too.
Office – My interest in Peacemaker is ramping up and
I do wonder if what Genie said about Wynonna (having a taste for blood) is more
like Peacemaker having a taste for blood. But I don’t think it does. I don’t
think it’s a psychotic gun (lol, I love that because of this show, that
sentence can exist and make sense). Also, I racked my brain to figure out if Peacemaker
had been pointed at Doc before; the only time I could remember is when Doc and
Wynonna faced off in front of shorty’s with the two widows on either side of
them and when the fired, Doc’s bullet split Wynonna’s bullet and both Widows
went down. Peacemaker lit up and fired then (when pointed at Doc who was not a vampire
at the time) but I think it lit up because it knew it wasn’t actually pointed
at Doc, it knew it was going to take out the Widows. I think Wynonna pointing
it at Doc this time was out of frustration and trying to get attention and get
a rise out of Doc. Once again, instead of sitting down and talking things
through with him, she points her gun at him. Out of line a bit, but not out of
character. And I think he knew she had zero intention of pulling the trigger.
Lynn – Well, first and foremost, Wynonna would never
shoot Doc! She was in a demon bar and Peacemaker lighting up is a reminder to
the patrons, including Doc, that she is a demon killer. The best Demon Killer!
She wants answers and Peacemaker has a way of helping get that information.
Laura – Wynonna is so angry right now. That’s my
thought. She is angry at the fact that she can’t get beyond where she is with
Doc no matter what. First it’s him leaving, she had feelings for Dolls, then
the baby, and then Kate returns and Doc turns into a vamp. Now it’s just
another roadblock but I think she’s mostly angry with herself. She worked so
hard to find Waverly and Doc and get them safely out of the garden, trying to
get back to Purgatory and Nicole. Then she worked hard getting peacemaker back
because she knew the other demons and Clantons wouldn’t stop but I think deep
down she kind of wants it to just slow for a minute. Let her catch up and catch
a breathe, maybe a slight break so she can not go on action all the time. Then
maybe her and Doc can get on the same page with how they feel for each other.
Also I’m sure she’s angry at Doc for taking a perceived high-road when she’s
still stuck in the trenches and can’t find her way out. Clearly she loves Doc
and wants to be with him but she is still trying to figure out how to get out
of her own way.
Lindsey – I hate it.
Flat out. I know Wynonna isn’t in
the best of places emotionally, but I feel like pointing Peacemaker at Doc was
a really low blow. It seems like right
now all Wynonna wants to be is right when it comes to Doc. Right in the fact that neither of them has a
moral high road to walk, making them “even” in some way, shape, or form. And if
they are even then it is SO MUCH EASIER for her to love him, and in turn,
herself. So while she was excited at the
prospect of him “sinking back” to her level when she learned that he hadn’t she
was immediately back in a place of being alone, and alone isn’t really
something that Wynonna does well. I also think that by pointing Peacemaker at
him Wynonna is trying to force Doc into acknowledging exactly WHAT he is, a
demon. One of his own making, one trying
to walk a better path, but still a demon. And for Wynonna, for Doc to try and
elevate himself above her is, I think, something that she can’t reconcile based
on her own demon-riddled past.
My hope is that these two still find find some way to get
past this, but it is going to take some compromise on both of their parts and
I’m not sure either of them is ready, or willing to do that just yet.
Kayla – The way she fluffs up her hair when the thought that
Doc could have killed someone came to her, just so she had an excuse to go talk
to him and maybe (just maybe) he wasn’t “too good” for her anymore??? I can’t
deal! My WynDoc heart has been screaming “kiss kiss kiss” for months, but this
one really hurt. I think for Wynonna, knowing that she can wield peacemaker
gives her a sense of control that she doesn’t have in other areas of her life.
I think pulling peacemaker on Doc was her way of showing him that they’re still
connected. That she’s still out there fighting demons and trying to keep their
team alive. But even Jolene-baked-good-eating-Wynonna knows the cardinal
cardinal rule – “Don’t attack members of your own team, dorkus.”
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
5. Trivia Night and the competitive juices leading up to
it had a lot of fun moments, what was your favorite?
Earpnado – It was nice to see Waverly and Jeremy
getting back to their shared geeky roots. Together they make such a fun
and nerdy team and apparently also the most adorable murder board in the entire
world.
Office – I think my favorite moment(s) was Nedley
flipping the cards going “correct” “correct” “correct”. It was so Nedley. He’s
usually such a down to earth straight shooter so seeing him just flipping these
cards off to the side was fun. My super favorite was him laughing so hard at
Doc’s answer about the names of a boy band then realizing it was right and
sobering up to say “correct” and flipping the question card again.
Lynn – The trivia rapid-fire of answers by Waverly,
Jeremy and Doc was priceless! Having Doc miss a classic question of western
history was cleaver! Was it aces & eights or a deuce & a seven? Jeremy
and Waverly’s taunting each other throughout the episode about Trivia and their
research of the killer was out of character but so competitive and funny. Too many great choices, all just plain fun!
Laura – Chicken. Kicker. Chicken. Kicker. Look I
loved trivia night and the fact that Doc, who doesn’t have to sleep now, is so
caught up on pop culture it’s adorable. Also, Celine being the first answer
just tickled me to no end. Something that I didn’t catch on the first watch but
was ever more so aware of on the following watches is that Jeremy and Waverly
had subtle changes when they were really trying to outdo each other versus
caught in Ginny’s spell. Varun and Dom were priceless in those moments and it
made the nuances of that scene stand out. I loved those little glances and
sideways glares. But my favorite part will forever be Nicole putting it all out
there and showing us Chicken Kicker. The most put together person who has been
through some shit this season and she had a moment of weakness which was I’m
sure went viral. Her reaction as it was playing and of course, Waverly who is
seeing it for the first time. A little tear escaped, well many tears as I was
dying laughing, when I saw the tablecloth was for Sheriff Haught. But Nicole
helped break the spell and took back her rightful place as Sheriff *whispers
Sheriff Chicken Kicker*
Lindsey – I think my favorite moment in the run up to
Trivia Night was Waverly, Wynonna, and Jeremy at the straight-out-of-craft-night
Murder Board. I really enjoyed the banter back and forth between Waverly and
Jeremy, although I did think it was touch too much when he brought up the fact
that Waverly has an on-line degree. When I watched it live I believe I said,
out loud, “low blow, Jeremy, low blow!” I also really liked it when Wynonna had
enough of their adorable-bickersons routine and was just like “alright, so,
see, see, as a smart also….” For some reason that just really made me
chuckle. And hey, who doesn’t love a
Murder Board?
Kayla – Jeremy calling Waverly “online degree” was
straight up SAVAGE! I loved the banter back and forth between those two, and
you just know that Varun and Dom had the best time playing together during
those scenes. But the playful energy did make me wonder if the rest of the team
knows what’s going on about Robin? The last time we saw Jeremy he wasn’t doing
so hot (even though he looked GREAT), and no one this episode seemed to respond
to that in anyway. LOL now I’m remembering the fog and how everything is gonna
be totally chill and fine next week.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
6. Nicole and Doc cleared the air about Nicole's deal with
Mam Clanton; what did you think of that conversation and what do you think Mam
wanted with Doc?"
Earpnado – I predicted that they would solve it with
just a conversation, but I was being completely sarcastic so that whole thing
really just proved that even when we’re right about this stuff we don’t even
believe ourselves. The Wynonna Writers are truly undefeated. As far
as what Mam wanted with Doc, I can only assume that she wanted someone to watch
Property Brothers with.
Office – I loved that conversation. It was short but
heartfelt and despite the fact that we don’t see these two characters together
often they really do have a respect and affinity for each other. They’ve come a
long way since Doc bit Julian and Nicole pulled her gun on him. I loved that
Nicole admitted what she did and also explained why. I loved that Doc had some
questions about it and didn’t just completely brush it off. And then I loved
that Doc was able to let it go. Though, yeah, as Doc verbalized: What did Mam
Clanton want with him? And more importantly, perhaps, what will Cleo maybe want
with him? I feel like Doc will be vulnerable to Cleo since he thinks they are
friends and maybe Cleo doesn’t think that much. In terms of what is actually
wanted of him, well, maybe Doc is the key to the curses of both families. Maybe
once Doc is gone, both the Clantons and the Earps can get out of whatever violent
spiral they are in. But… I don’t want Doc gone…
Lynn – The conversation went very much like I thought
it would. I can see how Nicole thought she could out-smart Mam. She figured Doc
would handle himself with the Clantons. Plus, the Wynonna Team would protect
him. Nicole had faith that Wynonna and Doc would bring Waverly back to her, but
she just needed to hedge those bets and be sure! As for what Mam wanted with
Doc, all I can figure is that she was going to feed him to that pit of Reaper
Ancestors of hers and let them tear Doc apart?
Laura – I figured this was how it was going to go,
something I think we discussed around the fire during the butt-love episode.
Yes that’s what I’m calling it now. As they say in Steel Magnolias “nothing
like a good piece of ass.” But I knew that Doc would understand it and confront
Nicole in a sensible manner. If anyone understands making deals to further help
those they love, would that not be Alice’s daddy who turned into a vampire to
make sure he would be able to fight for her to grow up in a peaceful world?
Plus it’s Nicole so of anyone who has an plans A-Z mapped out in some fashion
it would be Sheriff Haught. I think he just needed to wait until it was the right
time for Nicole to confess and air it out. The final piece that allowed Nicole
to heal, which Doc also knew she needed. See Doc, you are the hero not the
sidekick after all.
Lindsey – FINALLY,
someone in Purgatory had a much needed conversation! Look, I am really pleased
with the way the Nicole/Doc conversation went.
It was honest and it was in character.
Obviously Nicole was upset that she made the deal in the first place,
but things were clearly not great for her in Purgatory while the rest of the
gang was in the Garden. I mean the woman
kicked a chicken…And Doc, I think he understands where she was coming from, the
desperation that Nicole felt after 18 months.
And I am glad that they were able to talk it out. For once something in Wynonna Earp went the
way I hoped it would go! I’m going to savor that moment! As for what Mam wanted with Doc, who
knows! I can only speculate that she
wanted to torture him for the role he played in the killing of her
ancestors. Maybe she wanted to feed him
to her Reapers. Or maybe she wanted to turn HIM into a Reaper and set him loose
on the Earps. Anything she wanted wasn’t going to be good. And maybe we will get a glimpse of what she
had planned in the upcoming episodes.
Kayla – I think the way that conversation went is how
it would actually go in a real family. Nicole had to be positive that she could
get Waverly back, and knew she would fight to whatever means necessary to face
the consequences of gaining that assurance. I do wonder, if Doc is so willing
to forgive with this new leaf he’s turned, and is so empathetic and
understanding to people who have wronged him… why not extend this to Wynonna? I
want my babies back together, damnit! In terms of what Mam wanted with Doc… I
think, as Amon said, she’s a super powerful witch, and wanted to make sure that
Doc paid for what he did to their family. I think feeding him over to the
reapers would have been too easy, and that she would have had something special
planned for him.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
7. A preview image appears to have Waverly & Doc at
the base of the stairs to The Garden and Doc appears to be holding a book. Any last guesses as to which book Waverly
chose or any other thoughts about The Garden / Eve before we deep dive back
into it?
Earpnado – You must be the most optimistic person in
the world to think we can guess ANYTHING after the Chicken Kicker
episode. Are you kidding? I have no idea. For all I know
there’s now a chicken theme and the book is Colonel Sanders’ secret
recipe. Peacemaker now turns a whole chicken into nuggets. A Six
Piece-maker if you will. What was the question?
Office – I scarcely know where to begin. My final
answer is that the book is Doc’s. He is a weapon, after all. Or it’s Wynonna’s,
because she is the heir and the Hero after all.
Or it’s Nicole’s because she is Waverly’s rock, after all. Or it’s
Waverly’s because she just wants to know about her past and also what her
future holds, after all. So, clearly I
have some solid theories about which book it is. As for Eve – I would think
that they need to lure her back in there somehow and lock her back in. Does
that mean that someone also has to go into the Garden to keep feeding the machine
to keep Eve trapped there? And who will that be? And how will they lure Eve
back in there? And how will they find their way back? And if they lure her back
in will it take another 18 months, 3 weeks and four days for them to return?
Will Nicole insist on going into the Garden again because fuck waiting another
18 months, 3 weeks and 4 days? As with
the book, I clearly have this whole thing completely figured out.
Lynn – I am sticking to my original choice that
Waverly took her own book out of the garden. I have wondered if Doc had the
book this entire time? We have never seen him give it back to Waverly and so
many other things have happened since returning from The Garden. The other
thought I go back to is the ring. It was thrown away right before leaving The
Garden. I feel like that was a mistake that will have to be remedied somehow?
Laura – I have gone back and forth, up and down and
around again (sign it with me now…oh, wait, ahem) about whose book Waverly
grabbed. Putting together the fact that Doc kept the book all this time without
giving it back, or so it appears, until now and the fact that Waverly and Doc
were the only two in the garden at first, my guess is now Doc’s book. He would
have seen his name and been trying to read it or understand what the book was
for that has his name on it, which is why he didn’t just hand it straight off
to her. Plus Doc’s name was on Waverly’s mind while in the garden and they were
in the foggy garden hence starting to forget things except each other. Also, I
am 100% I am completely wrong and have not figured a damn thing out. Which is
how things have always been with this show and I love it. I’m not ready to give
that up…so here’s my not-so-shameless plug to #BringWynonnaHome!
Lindsey – I still think Waverly took her own
book. She is still so in the dark about
her origins and her powers and how to control them that I think she hoped that
the book would provide some insight. Will it? Who knows. For Waverly’s sake, I
hope so for I feel like things are about to get really bad (and dark) for our
fully grown half angel lady.
Oh the Garden…do we really have to deal with that? Can we
not just nail the door shut, dust off our hands, and go have a drink a
Shorty’s? No? Well damn it. Sigh. My thoughts, feelings, and theories about the
Garden/Eve are really expansive. Too expansive for this forum, but what I will
say is that I think a choice is coming.
And not a choice like what sort of delivery are we having for dinner on
Friday night, like a life or death choice.
One with real, stone cold consequences for everyone involved. I think we
are about to get a really good look at just what powers Waverly has been keeping
on lock down and I am not sure that we are going to like what we see (at least
for a bit). Do I think that ultimately Waverly and Team Earp will get the
Garden (and Eve and Cleo) wrangled? Yeah, I do.
I’m just not sure we won’t be emotionally wrecked by some of the things
that happen during the fight. The line
“where you go, I go remember?” really kind of haunts me right now. Waverly
Earp, don’t you DARE go where Wynonna and Nicole can’t follow…and bring you home!
Side thought, how does one plan a wedding when one of the
parties to be married might potentially be a dark angel?
Kayla – Let us not forget that when they came back
from the garden, Doc was the one with the book for some reason. Does this mean
that Waverly chose Doc’s book? Did she feel she knew so much about herself,
Wynonna, and Nicole, but wanted to get more insight into Doc that she chose his
book of the 4? Who is controlling the garden, and showing Doc that Nicole was
really Eve, or presenting these books to Waverly? Will we ever see the satchel
that Doc, for some unknown reason, threw to the bottom of the well? We have
more questions than answers, but I’m hoping that will start to change soon!
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
8. What question didn't we ask that we should have and
what is the answer?
Earpnado – Did I fall even more in love with Wynonna
when she stood there in that hallway and gently yet menacingly tapped
Peacemaker against her boot? Yes, yes I did.
Office – Will I be changing my name from Nedley’s
Office to Haught’s Office now that it is Haught’s office? The answer is no, I will not. It will always
be Nedley’s Office to me. However, I do
hope Haught gets rid of the mounted fishes on the walls, keeps the blinds, brings
in a new couch, and installs a good lock on the door. For no particular reason,
of course.
Lynn – Where has Mercedes been? I have no clue but I
sure do miss having her around! Her crazy energy makes me laugh! She is part of
the team too!
Laura – I’m looking to the teaser for ep410 for the
unasked and now to be answered (incorrectly) question. The fog is obviously
back and moved further in toward Purgatory, but why and if it’s from the garden
then wasn’t the whole garden nothing but the fog? So when Waverly and Doc were
in there and they were questioning the world around them and where they came
from, remember Waverly trying to memorize who Nicole was and what she looked
like, then I think it was because the whole garden is foggy. Whenever they went
down into the underground lair, they started to remember things and were of
their right minds so it was clearly foggy up top. Plus it wasn’t as strong as
it is now and I think that’s because Eve hadn’t escaped yet so I feel pretty
sure that bit…of a thing is going to come back next episode and we start
getting an idea of what Eve has been up to. Again, I’m sure I’m way off and I
am ready to see the last third of the season to know how far. Bring it Emily
Andras et al! P.S. I am not ready and also #BringWynonnaHome because we need
more round the firepit for two more seasons at least!
Lindsey – What’s up with Cleo and her merry band of
Reapers? I’m sure they are just off knitting somewhere, right? Who knows, maybe
we will find out more this week. I mean, we kind of have to right?
Kayla – I just wanted to touch on the scene where
Nicole explains to Waverly the place she was in during those 18 months, and
what it felt like to lose everything. The quiet domesticity of talking in the
kitchen while Waverly washed her shirt is the kind of representation that this
show provides to us that I just don’t see anywhere else. The kind of scene
where a long-term established couple can be in the same room, one partially
dressed, with absolutely no sexual overtones. That feels so real and just
struck such a cord with me, because I can’t name a single other show that would
do the same. And also maybe I melted into a puddle on the floor when Nicole
told Waverly that SHE is her “happy.”
